Its good that these are easier to swallow than the one a day capsule. It's a bit disappointing though that to get the same dosage as the one a day it is costing me double the amount of money per day so much more expensive. can you do anything about that?

Totally agree with other reviews here, however, I also find the hard tablets are not easier to take compared to the soft gel once a day capsule. Now I need to take an extra tablet each day along with all my other medications, not great at 86 years of age.

The above response does not make any sense. If the gel capsules are so popular and cheaper to manufacture why on earth change the product!
This product change is a great example of shrinkflation!
Thank you very much for your comments re the apparent increase in the daily cost of our product Macutec Essentials.
In the change to the new tablet formulation we have reflected the latest scientific evidence, which shows that a lower dose of zinc does not reduce the effectiveness of the formulation in its support of macular disease.
Importantly the lower dose of zinc also allows us to reflect the correct dosage of 2 tablets per day on our label. For your reference the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration only allows a maximum daily dose of 50mg of zinc.
Therefore our old label indicated 1 capsule per day or as recommended by your healthcare professional, and we relied on your doctor advising you to take two per day. We understand that this is confusing but unfortunately if you have only been taking 1 capsule you have been taking effectively 50% of the proven dose. If you continued to take the new tablet at the same dosage of one per day then there is no change to what you have been paying.
The new tablet apart from the lower zinc level, is the same formulation as the old capsules. Additionally it can easily be broken in half for even easier swallowing & vegetarian friendly.
We trust that this explains the situation and can assure you that we are very conscious of the effect of any change we make, on our customers.
